The Millennium Challenge Account-Kosovo (MCA-Kosovo) and the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina” have entered a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening technical Vocational Training Programs in the energy sector. This collaboration, formalized under Just and Equitable Transition Acceleration (JETA) Project components: Energy Skills for the Future (ESF) Activity and (ii) Inclusive Energy Sector Workforce (IESW) Activity, is a commitment to equip Kosovans with the skills needed for sustainable careers while promoting gender equality and social inclusion.

"This partnership will support the Center for Energy and Sustainability to have a variety of courses and opportunities for youngsters and Kosovars, man and women, who seek to have a career in the energy sector. MCA-Kosovo is committed to support and develop capacities of CES to design and implement employers driven training programs", said Florina Duli, CEO of MCA-Kosova.

MCA-Kosovo will support the University of Prishtina through: expert assistance and financial contributions for infrastructure development, provision of classroom resources, training materials, and modern technology, design and implementation of tailored training programs, development of occupational standards and curricula aligned with the energy industry needs, establishment of a Training of Trainers program to enhance teaching quality, adoption of workplace-based learning approaches, development of gender equality strategies and policies against harassment, facilitation of partnerships with local/international institutions and employers, etc.

"By focusing on gender equality and social inclusion, we aim to create a workforce that reflects Kosovo's diverse population and contributes to sustainable development and prosperous future”, added Miss. Duli-Sefaj.

The University of Prishtina, designated its Center for Energy and Sustainability (CES) as the focal point for implementing ESF activities. This collaboration will leverage the university's resources, including access to training facilities and a commitment to meeting accreditation standards for vocational training.

Both parties are dedicated to enhancing cooperation through joint activities outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This includes active participation in project design and implementation, monitoring progress, and addressing potential challenges to ensure successful outcomes. Moreover, they will integrate gender and social inclusion considerations in all phases, guided by best international practices and local legislation.

The Just and Equitable Transition Acceleration (JETA) is one of the three projects under the $236.7 million Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC)-Kosovo Compact between the Governments of Kosovo and the United States.
