MCA Kosovo is working to increase women’s employment, retention, and promotion in the energy and adjacent sector workforce through various activities. Through its Just and Equitable Transition Acceleration (JETA) Project activity “Energy for Equality”, MCA Kosovo will provide grants to advance women’s representation and careers in the energy sector.
The grants are designed to support projects, initiatives and activities that promote gender equitable practices among energy and adjacent sector employers. Active enterprises in the energy sector, as well as Civil Society Organizations advocating for the inclusion of women and minorities in the energy sector, are encouraged to apply for grants.
Through this activity, grants will be distributed in the amounts of $30,000, $60,000 and $120,000 to micro, small, medium and large enterprises in the energy sector. Civil society organizations that advocate for and promote gender equality and social inclusion will be eligible for grants of up to $40,000.
“Energy for Equality” supports the development of the Energy Strategy of the Republic of Kosovo, particularly strengthening regional cooperation and market functioning, removing barriers to efficient market operation, capacity building in energy-related fields, and increasing the number of graduates in energy-related fields, by ensuring that by 2031, at least 25% of those employed in this sector will be women.
JETA Project, is one of three projects covered by the Compact program agreement, valued at $236.7 million, signed on July 28, 2022, between the Government of Kosovo and the United States of America, through the Millennium Challenge Corporation. MCC-Kosovo Compact is the largest and most innovative investment in recent decades, which will serve as the cornerstone of Kosovo's transition to green energy and contribute to the country's energy security and socio-economic transformation.
