“Energy for Equality” Launched: It aims to Empower Women in the Energy Sector

tet 15, 2024

MCA Kosovo has launched the “Energy for Equality” activity, as part of the Just and Equitable Transition Acceleration Project, known as JETA. This activity works to promote equal employment opportunities in the energy sector in Kosovo, aiming to increase women’s employment, their retention, and career development.

Active enterprises in the energy sector, as well as non-governmental organizations advocating for the inclusion of women and minorities in the energy sector, can apply for grants and recognition. Girls and women looking to pursue and develop careers in the energy sector are encouraged to apply for training, mentorship, internships, and networking.

Through this activity, grants will be distributed in the amounts of $30,000, $60,000 and $120,000 to micro, small, medium and large enterprises in the energy sector. Civil society organizations that advocate for and promote gender equality and social inclusion will be eligible for grants of up to $40,000.

The launching event brought together key stakeholders from the Government of Kosovo, energy and adjacent sector companies in Kosovo, women professionals in the energy sector, civil society organizations, as well as local and international organizations.

“The ‘Energy for Equality’ activity will empower and train suitable and competent professionals for the energy sector, while continuously promoting the benefits and values that diversity brings, which contributes to more dynamic and inclusive environments, leading to success and other significant benefits, especially for the private sector,” said Florina Duli-Sefaj, CEO of MCA Kosovo.

“Energy for Equality” supports the development of the Energy Strategy of the Republic of Kosovo, particularly strengthening regional cooperation and market functioning, removing barriers to efficient market operation, capacity building in energy-related fields, and increasing the number of graduates in energy-related fields, by ensuring that by 2031, at least 25% of those employed in this sector will be women.
